Mamta Baruah Herland is the most sought-after painter and digital artist. She was born in Assam, northeastern India, but presently resides in Oslo, Norway. Mamta Baruah Herland had studied Visual Arts in Sydney College of Arts, Australia. She also studied Graphic Design in Oslo. She did her her Masters degree in Fine Art-Painting under the Winchester School of Art, England. Mamta Baruah Herland wrote `The impact of Giclée- A shift towards digital prints in future art`, in 2003 and in 2004, she wrote yet another informative paper, `The Internet & World Wide Web - Consequences @ Fine Art`. Her main aim was to stimulate debates and discourses pertaining to digital applications in present-day art-making compared to the conservative art practices.

In her thesis she had laid more emphasis on the unavoidable complex issues of concepts like authenticity, originality and limited editions. As a consequence it implied the global art world and the dilemma of skepticism versus willingness among artists, museums, galleries and other art institutions that are facing the current times. The art works of Mamta Baruah Herland focuses primarily in observational work. She has always attempted to incorporate sensitivity with existing technologies as well as to yield innovative works, which can be defined as art of synthesis. The subject matter of her work is always emotional and reflective, though Mamta Baruah Herland diversifies her diligence by the use of various tools and mediums. The final antiquity of her creation depicts `no limit of medium or substrates`.
