Khandu Rangnekar, who is also known as Khanderao Moreshwar "Khandu" Rangnekar was an Indian cricketer of colonial India. He performed well in fielding at the cover-point.

Khandu Rangnekar, Indian Cricket PlayerKhandu Rangnekar, who is also known as Khanderao Moreshwar `Khandu` Rangnekar, a famous Indian cricketer of colonial era, was born on June 27, 1917. He was hailed from Maharashtra. Khandu Rangnekar also played in domestic level cricket with Holkar Cricket Team, Madhya Pradesh Colonial Cricket Team, Maharashtra Cricket Team and Mumbai Cricket Team. He was a talented left hand batsman and his bowling style is right arm medium.

Early Life of Khandu Rangnekar
Khanderao Moreshwar "Khandu" Rangnekar was educated in the Byramji Jeejeebhoy School of St. Xaviers. He did his graduation from Elphinstone College. He also played badminton well. Between 1939 to 1945, Khandu Rangnekar exposed himself as one of the best badminton players in India. Khandu Rangnekar won Western India doubles in the year 1940, 1942, and 1944 and mixed doubles badminton in 1940. After that he entered in Indian cricket scenario.

Cricket Career of Khandu Rangnekar
Khandu Rangnekar is considered as the most dependable batman in Indian cricket Team in colonial era. Rangnekar was an attacking batsman of the team. He is also best known as the best Indian left-hander of his time. Khandu Rangnekar was a good fielder at cover-point and could field with either hand. Khandu Rangnekar started his first class cricket career in the Bombay Pentangular. He scored a hundred in his first appearance in the Ranji Trophy. Khandu Rangnekar played in three international test matches against Australia in 1947-1948 without much success.

After retiring from Indian cricket scenario, he became associated with the administration of cricket. He became the Vice President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 1962-1963 to 1969-1970. He also served in the chair as the President of Bombay Cricket Association in 1962-1963 and its Vice president between 1962 to 1963 and 1978-1979. He also served as the Municipality President in the 1960s. Out of these, Khandu Rangnekar worked in the Indian Customs in Bombay (Mumbai) and ran a textile store business.

Khandu Rangnekar died of throat cancer on 11th October 1984 in Thane (Maharashtra) at the age of 67.
