Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) is the common entrance test that is conducted for admissions in the full time Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga, Engineering, Technology and Architecture courses. This entrance test is conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore (KEA). Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) is a state level entrance test that is being conducted for the admission of the eligible students to the full time professional degree courses. These professional degree programmes are offered by several government aided as well as private colleges within the State of Karnataka. This combined entrance exam is being conducted every year and is undertaken by a huge number of students. Only those students who are the residents of Karnataka can appear for this entrance test.

Application Forms for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET)
The interested candidates can obtain the application forms and information brochure of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) from the respective Principals of the concerned institutes by submitting a bank demand draft of the requisite amount. The candidates outside the state of Karnataka can obtain the brochure along with the application forms directly from the CET Cell by sending a bank demand draft of the requisite amount drawn in favour of `Special Officer, CET Cell, Bengaluru`, payable at Bengaluru. The candidates need to give proper information in the application forms by using a black or blue ink ball pen. They need to fill up the forms in capital letters only. Students are advised to read the instructions properly before filling up the application forms. The candidates should paste their recent passport sized photographs in the application forms and need to clearly mention their academic details. The aspirants must note the last date of submission of application forms as no forms after the last date will be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET)
A pass in 10+2 level or its equivalent from a recognized University of Karnataka is the minimum eligibility requirement for appearing in Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET). The minimum age limit is 17 years. Candidates who are appearing or have appeared for the final year examination and are waiting for their results are also eligible to apply.

Medical /Dental Courses
For admissions in the medical and dental courses, the candidate should have passed 12th standard or its equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as core subjects along with English as one of the main languages of study. A minimum of 50% in aggregate in the PCB group is mandatory.

Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses
For admissions in the Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga and Unani courses, the candidate should have passed the 12th standard or its equivalent examination from any recognized university with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects along with English language. The applicant should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. The minimum age limit for admissions in these courses is 17 years.

Engineering and Technology Courses
For getting admissions in the engineering and technology degree programmes, the applicants need to have passed the 12th standard or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as the core subjects along with Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Electronics or Biology as optional subjects. He/she should have English as one of the languages of study in the 12th standard. A minimum of 45% in aggregate is required.

Architecture Courses
For admissions in Architecture courses, the candidates should have passed 12th standard or its equivalent exam with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and the candidate should have secured a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate. Moreover, it is compulsory for the candidates to appear for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and secure a minimum of 40% in that test.

The candidates need to complete seven full academic years of study in the state of Karnataka in order to apply for CET.

Pattern of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET)
Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) is usually held in three different sessions for four subjects that are Physics and Chemistry in a combined test paper in the first session and it is for 120 marks (60 each for Chemistry and Physics). The time allotted is 150 minutes. Test paper in the second session comprises Mathematics for 60 marks and the duration is 80 minutes. Third session consists of Biology for 60 marks. Its duration is 80 minutes. The questions are objective type carrying four different options. There is no negative marking system in this test.

Syllabus of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET)
The test papers of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) are mostly based on the First and Second PUC syllabus that is prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of the state of Karnataka. The students need to prepare for Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Selection Process for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET)
The merit list of the short listed candidates is prepared entirely on the basis of performance and scores obtained by the candidates in the entrance test along with the marks of the qualifying examination. In accordance with the merit that is determined by the CET Cell, the Medical, Engineering and Architecture ranks is assigned to the suitable candidates.
