Hanwant Singh of Jodhpur is an Indian Athlete who hailed from Rajasthan.

Early Life of Hanwant Singh
Hanwant Singh or Raj Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraj Shri Hanwant Singh of Jodhpur was born on 16th June 1923. He was the ruler of the Indian princely state of Jodhpur from 1947 until 1952.

Career of Hanwant Singh
Raj Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraj Shri Hanwant Singh of Jodhpur was polo player and was world polo champion. Raj Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraj Shri Hanwant Singh of Jodhpur succeeded his father as Maharaja of Jodhpur on 9th of June 1947 in the crest of Indian Independence.

Hanwant Singh as a Politician
After the independence of India and formation of Rajasthan as a new state within India, Hanwant Singh formed a new political party in the year 1952. His political party was to campaign both the Indian general election of 1952, that was held in the month of February 1952 and State Assembly elections. He would have won a majority in his region.

Personal Life of Hanwant Singh
Hanwant Singh was married in the year 1943 to Maharani Krishna Kumari Ba Sahiba of Dhrangadhra. By whom, Hanwant Singh had a son Gaj Singh daughter, Sailesh Kumari married in Banswara and daughter, Chandresh Kumari Katoch of Kangra, She was also the Member of Parliament in Indian National Congress from Jodhpur seat, Rajasthan. In 1948, he met Maharani Sundra Devi. Later the couple has married the Muslim actress Zubeida. After marriage, she converted into Hinduism as Vidya Rani. By whom he had a son named Hukum Singh (Tutu Bana). From her first marriage she had a son, Khalid Mohammed who was a well known film critic and director.

Death of Hanwant Singh
Hanwant Singh and his wife died in a plane crash on 26th January 1952. In the year 2011, wreckage of the aircraft, Beechcraft Bonanza, a light six-seater aircraft, was discovered inside Jodhpur Central Jail. Subsequently, in the year 2012, the Mehrangarh Fort Museum founded in 1972 by Maharaja Gaj Singh, formally asked the jail to transfer the wreckage to the museum.
