Government Medical College, Surat, GujaratThe Government Medical College (GMC) is situated in the district of Surat in Gujarat and is considered to be one of the prominent medical institutions in the state. The college has earned significant fame since its inception and has been working relentlessly for providing medical education to the students in Gujarat. The college is affiliated to the South Gujarat University and it has also got recognition from a number of medical bodies.

The Government Medical College (GMC), Surat offers many courses in different fields of medical science and the courses are offered at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main course offered by the GMC, Surat is MBBS and apart from that, it also offers the courses like MD in Anaesthesia, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Skin and VD, Social and Preventive Medicine, Pathology, Pharmacology. The college also offers MS in the branches like Anatomy, ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Diploma courses like DA, DCH, DCP, DGO, DO, DPK, DVD, to the students.

According to the rules and regulations of the Government Medical College (GMC), Surat, the students need to pass the higher secondary certificate examination under 10+2 educational pattern of the Gujarat Higher Secondary School Education Board for getting admission in the college. The college also considers passing of Central Board of Secondary Education from any school in Gujarat with at least 55% marks in subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English, as an eligible criterion for admission. Only the residents of Gujarat are considered eligible for admission in the GMC, Surat. The college admits its students strictly on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
