Types of Craftsmen in Assam

The Assamese were excellent carpenters who made their boxes, trays, stools and chairs by carving these out of a single block of wood. Two categories of people, Kumars and Hiras made pottery their own means of livelihood. But the ones that carved out a niche are the terracotta craftsmen of Asarikandi in Dhubri district.
