The artisans have also excelled in the art of making corn bins which comes in various sizes starting from small to large.
Architecture of Corn Bins
The making of corn bins are a unique form of folk art of the state of West Bengal. The shape of these corn bins are similar to that of large tabors and is made with circular straw roofs which are supported by round shaped framework of bamboo and bamboo splits. The interiors of these corn bins were plastered with clay and the outer surface was sometimes plastered. The exterior surface was then decorated by applying rice powdered pigments on which beautiful floral motifs were made in assorted colours.
These corn bins are a unique aspect to the crafts of West Bengal.
