Chowara Beach, KeralaChowara Beach is situated near Kovalam in the south Indian state Kerala exhibiting scintillating natural beauty. Chowara is a fishing village enclosed with exquisite landscapes. The coast of Chowara beach is dotted with a band of palm timberline which veils the fishing village and an old church. It is a long and wide beach which showcases shimmering white sand. All through the year the tourists can be seen enjoying sunbath at the beach. Lying between the crashing waves of Arabian Sea and a long stretch of a coconut grove, the beach is very adorable for the nature lovers. Chowara Beach derives its name from the deep rock gorge that skirts the beach line.

The picturesque beach of Chowara is ideal for savouring the exquisite natural beauty, lush greenery and soothing sea breeze. A number of acclaimed heritage and Ayurvedic resorts also stand at the beach to greet the tourists. Chowara Beach is secluded and is the perfect place for escaping into the enchanting tranquillity from the bustling city life. The beach is also safe and is thus frequented by visitors for evening strolls and swimming. Water sports can be greatly enjoyed at the beach. Owing to the length of beach, paragliding is a cherished activity here. Water surfing is delightful at the beach. The cool blue waters are fascinating; however there are no life guards and thus the visitors must be careful. Sunsets are spectacular at the beach.

The famed Chowara Ayyappa Temple stands atop a fort overlooking the beach and offers magnificent views. Chowara Beach is also the abode of the ancient Analothbhava Matha Church. There is also a Vizhinjam anchorage which serves as an added tourist attraction. Aazhimala Shiva Temple is also located here which forms another tourist attraction. The Shri Dharma Shastha Temple located on a nearby hillock is also visited by many devotees.

Visiting Information
Chowara Beach can be visited all through the year, however it is best to avoid the place during monsoon. It can be reached easily through various means. Thiruvananthapuram Central, 20 kilometres away, serves as the nearest railway station. Trivandrum International Airport, located at a distance of 24 kilometres from the beach, is the nearest airport. Chowara Beach also has a good connectivity of roadways and can be accessed from all the major cities of India.
