Bharath Reddy

Bharath Reddy was awe-inspiring with his wicket-keeping calibre. He was born in Chennai in the year 1954

Bharath Reddy, Tamil Nadu Cricket PlayerBharath Reddy, born on November 12, 1954, in Chennai, was a right-hand batsman and excellent wicket-keeper. He has represented India in 4 Tests and 3 One-Day Internationals from 1978 to 1981. This man of merit rose to prominence, with his supervision of the Indian school team, taking a play-trip to New Zealand in 1973. This wicket-keeper hailing from Tamil Nadu, substituted Syed Kirmani, during the tour to England in 1979. His performance in all the four tests deserved praises. He has the proud record of being the Indian wicket-keeping force.

Reddy was indispensable to the Tamil Nadu, cricket-battalion. He served as the Captain of Tamil Nadu for two seasons.

However, in spite of his talents, he couldn`t solidify his position in Team India. Nevertheless, this resourceful man did not stop from giving cricket his immense contributions. He is the architect responsible for the making of the promising Dinesh Kartik, into a suitable player for Indian cricket. He identified the latent potentialities in Dinesh Kartik, and facilitated its blossoming to the fullest extent. He escorted Dinesh on a tour to England, just at the age of 13. Since then, their journey towards their set target began, and today, Dinesh Kartik, has lived up to the expectations of his mentor. Even Lakshmipathy Balaji, owed his full training into the playing art of cricket to this gem of a guiding spirit, Bharath Reddy.

Bharath Reddy and Abdul Jabbar, gave an expression to their desire of teaching the future generation, by opening up a cricket academy in Madras (presently Chennai), in the mid-eighties.
