Krishnamurthy Perumal was born on September 26, 1943 in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This two time Olympic medallist in field hockey and Arjuna Award winning sportsman hails from Indian national hockey team. He played for teams such as the ICF or Integrated Coach Factory, Tamil Nadu and Indian Airlines and there after got chance to represent India with the Indian national hockey team.
As a player, manager and coach, in all these three roles, he has served Indian and Tamil Nadu hockey with distinction. The post of President of Tamil Nadu Hockey Association is presently embellished with this eminent field hockey player. In the year 1971, Krishnamurthy Perumal was conferred with the Arjuna Award. The award was given to him for his dedication and outstanding excellence in his sport. The Arjuna Award was at that time India's highest accolade for a sportsman.
