Neeraj Chopra is a professional Indian track and field athlete competing in the javelin throw who set a world junior record. He has registered recently as the season best effort of 86.47 meters in men's javelin throw at 2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG). Neeraj Chopra was born on 24th December 1997 in Panipat, Haryana. His father is a farmer.
Career of Neeraj Chopra
Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal in 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He had also won the gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games with a throw of 82.23 metres, which equalled the Indian national record. He is currently coached by Garry Calvert. He has also won gold medal in Asian Athletic championships 2017 with a throw of 85.23 meters. With the best effort of 86.47 meters in men's javelin throw at 2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG), he became the first Indian to triumph in Javelin Throw at CWG.
