Neeraj Chopra is a professional Indian track and field athlete competing in the javelin throw who set a world junior record. He has registered recently as the season best effort of 86.47 meters in men`s javelin throw at 2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG). Neeraj Chopra was born on 24th December 1997 in Panipat, Haryana. His father is a farmer.
Career of Neeraj Chopra
Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal in 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He had also won the gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games with a throw of 82.23 metres, which equalled the Indian national record. He is currently coached by Garry Calvert. He has also won gold medal in Asian Athletic championships 2017 with a throw of 85.23 meters. With the best effort of 86.47 meters in men`s javelin throw at 2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG), he became the first Indian to triumph in Javelin Throw at CWG.
