![]() Early Life of Sabyasachi Gorai Born to a middle-class family in Asansol, Sabyasachi had his goals laid out quite early in his life and pursued them relentlessly. A degree course from the Institute of Hotel Management in Kolkata, followed by an haute cuisine course from John Folse Culinary Institute, New Orleans and a pastry and baking course from Paris, he mastered the skilful art of cooking. He has also done numerous specialized Master Chef classes across the world. Career of Sabyasachi Gorai Sabyasachi Gorai has packed in a century of culinary expertise in his career spanning two decades. Starting at "Hotel Guestline" (Accor), Mumbai and subsequently at "Mahindra Holiday Resorts" across India, he became the ‘Youngest Executive Chef’, at the age of 26; of South East Asia’s largest entertainment centre "The Bowling Company," at Mumbai, 1999. Continuing his successful career, he became the ‘Executive Chef ‘at "Bellissima", "Liquid Lounge" and "Karma" at Mumbai in 2001, catering to the best names like Amitabh Bachchan, Azim Premji, The Kapoor Family, Nirmal Zaveri, Anil Ambani and many more. Simultaneously he set up and managed the massive Food Court at Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City serving more than 5000 meals a day. In 2005 he moved to New Delhi to head the North Indian operations and growth for the Olive Group based out of "Olive at the Qutub". Subsequently he started “Olive Beach", "AI - The Japanese Restaurant", "LAP -The Club" and "The Moving Kitchen by Olive". He served the company as a ‘Culinary Director’ of all these units till 2012. His latest project, “Olive Culinary Academy”, is a culinary institute located in New Delhi where he takes up the role of mentor and passes down his vast knowledge to young, aspiring chefs. Sabyasachi Gorai presently owns and runs a Boutique Consultancy Company called "Fabrica by Chef Saby", where he provides consultancy to other restaurants for menu, staffing and sourcing along with setting up a culinary institute for training budding chefs. He has also launched "Lavaash by Saby" at Mehrauli, which traces the culinary influence of early Armenian settlers in Asansol on the food that is presently preferred. . Besides, Sabyasachi has also instituted a scholarship in the name of his mother, to help girls from the weaker sections of society.
