Career of Nita Mehta
Nita Mehta is a Home Science graduate from Lady Irwin College, Delhi University and a Gold Medallist in M.Sc. (Food & Nutrition). She was always passionate about cooking and thus experimented often at home, trying out new recipes for family and friends. Seeing the appreciation she received for her cooking, she decided to put her talent to use. She started taking Ice-cream classes at home. Encouraged by her students’ demand for new recipes, Nita Mehta decided to write a Cookbook. Nita worked hard on the book, penning recipes late into the night, after completing her household chores. After a full year of gruelling hard work, Nita’s book was complete.
Since there were no publishers willing to publish her cookbook, Nita decided to publish the book herself. With no experience and lack of finance, with just as faith as her friend, Nita set up her publishing house "SNAB Publishers" to publish her first Cookbook. Her first Cookbook was ‘Vegetarian Wonders’ which was an average success. But real success came from her second book. After that she has produced many best sellers and has not looked back. Today, her Publishing House has published over 400 cookbooks which have sold over 5 million copies, making her one of the best selling authors of all times. Many of Nita’s Cookbooks have also won International Awards. Her Cookbooks are not only sold in India but also in USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, Singapore and the Middle East. Some of her cookbooks have been translated into the Arabic language and also many regional languages of India.

Nita Mehta has been called a "Cooking Expert" and "Nutrition Expert" in the media. Her notable books include "Indian Cooking With Olive Oil", "Vegetarian Chinese", "Zero Oil Cooking", "Diabetes Delicacies", "101 Recipes for Children" and "The Best of Chicken and Paneer". She owns a publishing house, SNAB Publishers many of whose books are authored by Nita herself.
Nita Mehta herself runs a culinary academy known as "Nita Mehta Culinary Academy" in New Delhi, started in 2001. In her academy, the courses include those for fast food, traditional Indian meals, picnic packs, low-calorie snacks, salads, desserts, chocolates, confectionery as well as healthy heart recipes.
In 2012, Nita Mehta turned restaurateur with the launch of her restaurant "Kelong" at Sarabha Nagar in Ludhiana.
Celebrity Appearances of Nita Mehta
In 2007, "Kurkure", a brand of ready-to-eat snacks owned by PepsiCo ran a recipe contest which was judged by Nita Mehta. She has judged several cooking contests, such as "Mallika-e-Kitchen 2011" which culminated at JW Marriott in Chandigarh. Later in 2011, Mehta appeared on the television cooking contest "MasterChef India" as a judge.
