The period saw him playing in some games for Leicestershire Second XI. He returned to India after the completion of the season and was signed up to play for the Air India cricket team.
In 2008, he was zeroed in on to play for Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural edition of the IPL. He made six appearances for the victorious Rajasthan Royals team in the tournament.
