Career of Dinesh Salunkhe
Salunkhe participated in the season of Cricket Star (2006-07), India's first-ever cricket talent-hunting reality television show. He was chosen as 'Man of the Series' in the first season and was awarded a scholarship with Leicestershire County Cricket Club for the 2007 English cricket season. The period saw him playing in some games for Leicestershire Second XI. He returned to India after the completion of the season and was signed up to play for the Air India cricket team.
In 2008, he was zeroed in on to play for Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural edition of the IPL. He made six appearances for the victorious Rajasthan Royals team in the tournament. He was a lower-order batsman for the Royals. In his debut match, he made a good impression with the bat by scoring 26 runs. As a lower order batsman, his performance was steady, even though he was only twice called up to bowl, capturing just one wicket. He was not selected to appear for the semi-final or final of the competition, however, with his final game coming in the last preliminary round match against Kings XI Punjab. Owing to his poor form for the omission from the squad for the 2009 season, he was axed by Rajasthan Royals in 2009.
