![]() Early Life and Education of Denzil Franco He was born on June 30 in the year 1986. His place of birth is Saligao, Goa, India. His parents are Avelina and Joe Franco. It was his father, an ardent football lover and supporter of Indian Football, who inspired him to take this sport seriously. Denzil received his primary school education from Lourdes Convent. He then attended St Anthony's HS Monte de Guirim where he was trained by Saligao legend, Francis D'Souza. Career of Denzil Franco Denzil graduated from the Sesa Football Academy. After his graduation, he was felicitated by the institution for being India's outstanding player. His impressive football skills gave him the opportunity to represent India right from the India U-19 level up to senior level. He got to compete in events in like Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Portugal, Maldives, Malaysia, Qatar, UAE and Sri Lanka. During the transfer window, before the 2010-11 I-League seasons, Franco was transferred from disbanded Mahindra United to Churchill Brothers S.C. However, his first season with Churchill was hampered because of injuries. His fitness allowed him to play only in eight games throughout his first season with the club. During his stint with the Churchill Brothers, tournaments like I-League, Durand Cup, IFA Shield and the Federation Cup helped him to taste success. His big break arrived on March 23, 2011 when he made his international debut for India against Pakistan. Franco came on as a substitute for Gouramangi Singh.
