Vijay Yadav is a former Indian cricketer. He was a wicketkeeper and was known to be an aggressive lower order batsman. Since the year 1992 to 1994, he played 19 One Day Internationals. However he bagged the opportunity of playing in the Indian Test cricket only once. Born on 14th March 1967, Vijay Yadav hails from Gonda city of the Indian state Uttar Pradesh.
Career of Vijay Yadav
Vijay Yadav was a part of Haryana's first class team and won the Ranji Trophy with them in 1990-91. In the tournament he took 24 catches and marked six stumpings. In the next season he once again displayed his brilliant performance by taking 25 dismissals. As a reward he was included in the Indian squad for the South Africa tour in 1992-93. Apart from being the understudy of the prominent player Kiran More, Yadav also made his One Day International debut in a game at Bloemfontein. He played his only Test match against Zimbabwe at Delhi. Indian won the match by an innings and 13 runs and Vijay Yadav scored 30 off 25 balls after arriving at number 8 and also made 2 stumpings. The international career of Vijay Yadav declined in 1994 with the emergence of Nayan Mongia. In the last ODI played by Yadav, he got dismissed by Courtney Walsh for a first ball duck.
Personal Life of Vijay Yadav
Vijay Yadav, in April 2006, got badly injured in a car accident at Faridabad. Unfortunately he also lost his 11 year old daughter in the same.
