Chandrapura is the industrial township catering to the employees of the Chandrapura Thermal Power Station (CTPS) under Damodar Valley Corporation.It is located in the Bokaro district in the state of Jharkhand. The town is well connected by road and railway.
According to the 2001 census Chandrapura has a population of about 22,389 inhabitants. Males comprise 54% of the population while females consist of 46%of the population. It has an average literacy rate of 71%, which is higher than the national standard set at 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 78%while the female literacy rate is 62%. 13% of the population is under six years of age. The major schools of the region are De-Nobili,DVC High school ,Kendriya Vidyalaya. There is also a famous college in the area ,DVC Inter College.
