National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is the entrance test that is conducted for admissions to the 3 years hospitality and hotel administration course. This examination is organized by the prestigious National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) as well as Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology or in short NCHMCT is a self-governing body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. This entrance exam is necessary for gaining admission to hotel management colleges which offer courses in Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, M.Sc., post graduate diplomas, diplomas and Certificate courses. The minimum qualification required for appearing in the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a pass certificate in the 10+2 examination with English as a compulsory subject under any recognized university or Board. Students appearing in the 10+2 or any equivalent examination are also eligible to appear in JEE conducted by NCHMCT.
AIMA Undergraduate Admission Test (UGAT)
AIMA UGAT entrance test is conducted to select candidates for programmes on BHM (Bachelors in Hotel Management). Students must have cleared 10+2 examinations in order to be eligible for UGAT. The duration of this examination is 2 hours. AIMA UGAT examination contains 130 questions including objective questions and multiple choice questions.
Electronic Common Hotel Admission Test (E-Chat)
Electronic Common Hotel Admission Test (E-Chat) is conducted by International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) for granting admission to students in the disciplines of B.A. in Hospitality Management, Advanced Diploma in International Hospitality Administration and B.Sc. in Hotel Management, Catering and Tourism. Group discussion, followed by an interview is the technique of this entrance examination. Candidates appearing for this examination should not exceed 24 years of age and must have cleared 10+2 examination.
Other Entrance Tests for Hotel Management
There are numerous other entrance tests for hotel management which are Bharatiya Vidyapeeth University Hotel Management Test, Directorate of Technical Education Hotel Management & Catering Technology Entrance Exam (DTE HMCT), India Hotel Academy (Sikkim Manipal University) - IHA SMU and a few others.
A majority of the Indian hotel management colleges conduct their individual entrance examinations for hotel management. The duration of these entrance exams is generally 2 hours. Most of the hotel management institutes follow similar question pattern when it comes to the examinations. Other important hotel management entrance examinations are the examinations conducted by IHM Aurangabad, Heritage Institute of Travel and Tourism (HIHT), Oberoi Group of Hotels, IHM Meerut, WelcomGroup Management Institute and several others. Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI), Maharashtra Hotel Management Common Entrance Test (MAH-HM-CET), Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITM), etc.
