Vanadurga Fort is located in the village of Vanadurga in Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is also known as Wanadurga Fort. The structure was established by the rulers of the Shorapur Nayaka dynasty. The geographical coordinates of the fort are latitude 16°37'53.1228?N and longitude 76°41'35.8722?E. the village is located towards the north of Shorapur and west to Shahapur.
Vanadurga Fort was built by the ruler Krishnappa Nayaka during the 1800s. It was initially erected as a station for a small unit of the royal army. It was also utilized as an outpost for the Nayaka territory. The building comprises of an inner court and an outer court. The entrance of the inner court is protected by the outer court which is rectangular shaped.
The inner court is a fortified citadel that includes several other buildings. The premise of the inner court has a well and temple devoted to Lord Hanuman. The entire fortress is surrounded by a deep moat which acted as a line of defence. The rampart walls and citadels are still present in a good condition.
The village of Vanadurga is situated around half a kilometer from the site of Vanadurga Fort. The structure is maintained of the Government of India. Currently the fort is open to visitors and tourists.
