Velayuthampalayam is a town located in Karur District in Tamil Nadu. Pugali Malai Arunattan Malai dedicated to Lord Murugan is an important pilgrimage place here.

Velayuthampalayam is located in Karur District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a town that falls under the jurisdiction of Punjai Pugalur Town Panchayat. TNPL Kagithapuram, Thottakuritchi and Karappalayam surround Velayuthampalayam. The town falls on the Parmathy-Velur and Karur highway. One of the main rivers of southern India, Kaveri River is at a distance of 3 kilometres from the town. The Hindus consider the river to be sacrosanct.

Velayuthampalayam is located at 11°4`48"N 78°0`1"E and has an average elevation of 125 meters. During the months of early May to early June the town experiences its maximum temperature of 34°C. At times it also exceeds to 38°C. The minimum temperature does not fall below 17°C and during the month of January the temperature is about 23°C. The town experiences an average rainfall of about 725 mm. The seasonal rainfall is caused by the north-east monsoon winds that blow during the months of September to mid November

There few temples located in Velayuthampalayam visited by devotees of the town and nearby villages. Pugali Malai Arunattan Malai dedicated to Lord Murugan is one of the most important temples here. Besides this there are other temples like Angamuthusamy Temple, Sree Munniapan Temple, Sree Mariamman Temple and Pugali-Murugan Temple

Economy of Velayuthampalayam
The main source of income for the people residing in Velayuthampalayam is agriculture. Different of products are cultivated here like coconut cultivating, Sugarcane cultivating, Betel leaves and others. Besides this the TNPL is located at a distance of almost 2 kilometers from the town. TNPL has earned the name of being the largest producer of bagasse in the world. It is the sugarcane waste obtained from the sugar mills. The Government of Tamil Nadu promotes this paper industry and it receives its loan from World Bank. In Asia the industry is the second largest producer of paper. Almost 4,00,000 tons of writing and printing paper is produced by TNPL. Each year the industry consumes almost 1 million tones of bagasse.

Another important industry EID Parry has set up its sugar factory in Velayuthampalayam. The industry has the capacity of almost 4000 TCD per year. A Power plant with 22 MW co-generation along with TNPL has been set up by EID Parry.

Velayuthampalayam is well connected with all modes of transport. Buses run by government as well as private buses are available here. The nearest railway station is located at Pugalur. The station connects with all the major tows like Kochi, Trichy, Chennai, Coimbatore, and Erode. The nearest airport is located at Trichy at a distance of 87 km. Another airport is situated at Coimbatore at a distance of 115 km.
