Brhadaranyaka Upanishad, a secondary extraction of the Brahamana text, is a description of the Purush Sukta of the Vedas. It is an elementary part of Upanishad. Brhadaranyaka Upanishad is associated with the Shukla Yajur Veda. The second chapter of part two of Brhadaranyaka Upanishad gives a detailed explanation about the Prana. According to it one who knows the young animal with its abode, its pillar and its rope, destroys the seven hostile kinsmen. The vital breath in the body is the central life. This body is its abode; this upper part i.e. the head is its abode, the life is the pillar and food is the rope. Rudra adores it with red lines in his eyes, Parjanya attends it with water in his eyes, Aditya adores it with sight, Indra with white in his eye, Agni attends it with black in his eye, the heaven with the upper eye lash and the earth with its lower eye lash. Knowledge is poured into a bowl and seven sages sit on its rim. The bowl bulges at the top and has an opening at the bottom. The bulging at the top refers to the head of the beings. The knowledge that has been poured into it and the seven sages sitting on the rim are the organs. The two ears are Bharadwaja and Gotama. The left ear is regarded as Bharadwaja and the right ear is Gotama. The two eyes are said to be Jamadagni and Vishwamitra. The left eye is Jamadagni and the right eye is Vishwamitra. The two nostrils are Vashishtha and Kasyapa. The one on the right is Vasishtha and the other one on the left is Kasyapa. Tongue is said to be Atri, as food is eaten through tongue. One who is aware of this becomes the eater of everything and everything becomes his food.
