Brhadaranyaka Upanishad is known as a commentary on Purush Sukta of the Vedas. It is the ancient and elementary or 'Mukhya' part of Upanishad. The Brhdaranyaka Upanishad is the secondary extraction of the Brahamana text. Brhadaranyaka Upanishad is related to the Shukla Yajur Veda. The Fifth Chapter of Part Five of Brhadaranyaka Upanishad has been written in praise of Satya Brahman. According to it there was only water at the beginning of the universe. From it Satya or truth was formed. This Satya or truth is known as Brahman. Then Brahman created the Parajapati which produced the other gods. These gods created by the Prajati worship and meditate upon Prajapati. The Sayta is made up of three syllables, sa is one syllable, ti is one syllable and ya is one syllable. Here the first and the last syllable make the truth while the middle syllable is untruth. Thus untruth is surrounded by truth on both its sides. It can thus, be said that everywhere truth prevails. One who is aware of this is never overtaken by untruth.
According to the second verse the Satya is the Sun or Aditya. The Purusha dwelling in that yonder orb and the Purusha who is in the right eye rest on each other. The former abides through his rays in the latter, and the latter in the former through his organs. When the individual self is about to leave the body, he is able to see the solar orb clearly i.e. without rays. Those rays do not come to him. The Bhu i.e. the earth is the head of the Purusha that dwells in that solar orb as there is one head and also one syllable. The Bhuvah is the arms, as there are two arms and there are also two syllables. The word Svah is the legs, for there are two legs and there are two syllables. The representative or secret name is Ahar. He who knows this destroys evil and departs from it far behind.
The syllable Bhu is the head of the Purusha that dwells in the right eye for there is one head and there is this one syllable; the word Bhuvar is the arms, for there are two arms and there are these two syllables; the word Swab is the legs, for there are two legs and there are these two syllables. The secret name is Aham. He who is aware of this destroys evil and stays away from it.
