General Information about trekking in Zanskar Valley
If one plans to trek the Zanskar valley in a group, then they must be aware of the general information that is required to know before trekking. One should be physically fit and mentally strong enough to take the risk because it is quite tough route to trek although being the most adventurous one. The altitude of the Zanskar valley is about 5150 m and it takes nearly 18-20 days to complete the full trek on the Zanskar valley.

Zanskar valley is considered as one of the most adventurous and a fascinating one. Zanskar can be reached by road and by trek in summer. It takes two days to reach to Padum by road. This trek will actually take the travellers to Ladakh and Zanskar and on the way one can pass monasteries where the culture of Buddhism is prevalent. The road from Leh to Kargil is well built with mettle road and from half way between Kargil and Zanskar; the terrain is quite rough and full of magnificent flora and fauna sights.

Places to See in Zanskar
Zanskar is wrapped in snow-covered peaks and small alpine lakes. But there is nothing comparable to the wonderful view of the "Drang-Drung" glacier. Zangla is the nodal point on the popular Padum-Strongdey-Zangla-Karsha-Padum round trip, which covers most of the cultural sites of Zanskar. The other spectacular cave monastery of Zanskar are in Zongkhul, that falls on the Padum-Kishtwar trekking trail, just before the ascent of Omasi-la Pass begins. The Monastery of Stongdey lies 18 km to the north of Padum, on the road leading to Zangla. Panikhar is an important place in the Zanskar Valley that is the border of the Suru Valley. At Panikhar the fort of Zorawar Singh is a major tourist attraction. Penzella Pass divides the Zanskar valley with the Suru Valley.
Best Time to visit Zanskar Valley
One will be surrounded by Mountains and very deep gorges, the wild flowers and the green fields are seen to be believed, the Zanskar River completes the picture. This will be a lifetime experience. The best season to visit the place would be June to September.
