Behat is a town as well as a nagar panchayat situated in the Saharanpur district in the northernmost part of the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. The administrative headquarters of the district are located in the town of Saharanpur. Other major towns are Behat, Devaband, Gangoh and Rampur. The district is a part of the Saharanpur Division.
The town of Behat has a population of 17,177 according to the information gathered in the 2001 census. There are 54% males, 46% females and 17% children. Behat has a mean literacy rate of 51%, lower than the countrywide standard of 59.5%. 59% of the males and 41% of the females are literate.
