K. Namaccivaya Mudaliar was a renowned Tamil author, scholar and teacher who greatly contributed to the development of modern Tamil literature through his literary works.

K. Namaccivaya Mudaliar, Tamil AuthorK. Namaccivaya Mudaliar, alternatively known as Professor K. Namahshivaya Mutaliar, was an eminent and respected author, playwright, scholar and teacher from Tamil Nadu who lived from the year 1876 to 1931. He has composed several literary works such as short stories, novels, drama and essays in Tamil language that have gained sufficient recognition. Most of the Tamil literary works written by K. Namaccivaya Mudaliar are popular and admired for their choice of diction and their competence to utilize emotions and move the hearts of readers. Although the well known Tamil author lived during the period when new literary forms were being attempted and implemented, yet he has written several works in the conventional manner. The literary works of Professor K. K. Namaccivaya Mudaliar have provided ample aid in the advancement and progress of the modern era in Tamil literature.

He also composed a large number of textbooks in simple and lucid style in Tamil language for school children. Professor K. Namaccivaya Mudaliar taught Tamil as a language at many schools and eventually developed as a Professor of Tamil language and Tamil literature in the Madras Presidency College. Mudaliar composed 2 major plays in Tamil; one of the plays was based on the epic character of Kicakan and the second Tamil play by the author was based on the historical character of Pirutivirajan. Professor K. Namaccivaya Mudaliar also wrote literary works which narrated the various stories and accounts regarding the lives Tecihkurajan (Tecinkurajan) and Janakan. Tecinkurajan was the tribal chief of Gingee. He constructed an equipped fort at Gingee and revolted against the Carnatic Muslim rulers for a long period of time through his intelligence, brilliant strategy and strength of arms. The bravery and heroism of Tecinkurajan is still praised through the Tamil folk songs even at the present age.

Professor K. Namaccivaya Mudaliar, the well known Tamil author and scholar, elaborately portrayed the various incidents related to the heroic life Tecinkurajan and thus immortalized him through the author`s published book. Apart from writing Tamil plays and children`s textbooks, Namaccivaya Mudaliar also composed several devotional hymns and verses which were published in the book Tanikai Tavappayanmalai.
