Tantavarayar was one of the most popular poets in Tamil literature who composed several literary and poetic works in Tamil language. Some of his compositions are of religious and devotional nature, while some other works comprises of philosophical and ethical subject matters. One of the most prominent works of the Tamil poet Tantavarayar is titled the Kaivaiya Navanitam.
The literary work of Kaivaiya Navanitam describes the Kaivaiya Navanitam in three hundred and ten verses, composed in the viruttam meter. The poetic work of Tamil literature is popular for its composition and its lucidity, effortless and uncomplicated readability and presentation. The title of Kaivaiya Navanitam denotes the essence which vividly describes the uniqueness of the soul or anma in Tamil. It can also be said in this context that this exciting religious literary work is nothing more than a derivation of facts which is derived from the Upanishads. It is also based on the commentary of Sankarar which portrays that the facts, like butter, are churned out like butter of the ocean of Upanishads and also Sankarar's Commentary.
