M. V. Venkataraman is a Tamil author, novelist and journalist who has written several novels and other literary works in Tamil language. The literary compositions of the Tamil author have significantly facilitated the evolution process of contemporary Tamil novels. He is regarded as one of the most distinguished novelists in Tamil literature of the 20th century. M. V. Venkataraman wrote highly creative and artistic novels. Some of his literary works were compiled and collected in a serialized manner in Teni, a Tamil monthly. Venkataraman himself was the editor of the magazine.
One of his most well known novels is Nitya Kanni, which is rather lengthy, describes the tale of the daughter of Yayati, one of the characters in the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata. She was blessed with a unique godsend of attaining back her virginity even after giving birth to a child. As a result of retrieving her virginity, the blessed woman got an opportunity to marry another person. But even after having this rare boon and the resultant transformations, the female protagonist was not capable to overlook her emotional attachment for her previous husband and was unable forget him. The consequent emotional conflict is elaborately portrayed in the novel through vivid and intriguing narrations. This particular character was briefly featured in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. But the imaginative novel of Venkataraman has developed the character to great proportions which has fascinated and mesmerized the minds of the readers.
The renowned Tamil novelist M. V. Venkataraman is certainly one of the most noted Tamil novelists in the modern era of Tamil literature.
