Jambulinga Temple a northern style temple located at Pattadakkal (the second capital of the Chalukyan kings) in Karnataka
. Jambulinga temple is dedicated to Lord Brahma
, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva
. The fine figure of Dancing Shiva with the bull Nandi
and Goddess Parvati
by his side is a noteworthy feature of this temple. This is the east section of the tower.
The temple architecture is simple as it consists of only a sanctum and a mandap. The sanctum has a sculptured niche on the bandra-projections. It is crowned by a squat and ponderous Shikhara. The mandap has interlaced window on its lateral sides.
This temple is practically the "twin" of Kaddasimbeshvara Temple. However Jambulinga lacks doorways. The curving ribs of the tower are decorated with horseshoe shaped blind arches. The shikharas of the temple reminds one of the temples of Bhubaneshwar
with a projecting horseshoe that bears a figure of dancing Shiva.
