Gopatha Brahmana have been completely divided into eleven sections are known as 'Prapathakas'. Purvabhaga exhibits the content in which it glorifies the Athavan and the priests. Uttarabhaga follows the other Brahmanas though it introduces myths related to other Atharvan teachers. Gopatha Brahmana are Upanishad texts similar to the Pranava Upanishad.
It describes the Vedic rituals that are associated with the Atharvaveda. It is also associated with the Shaunaka and the Paippalada recensions of the Atharvaveda. The purva-bhaga consists of 135 kandikas and uttara-bhaga consists of 123 kandikas
