Administration of Bhind District is headed by Deputy Collector. He is assisted by an Additional Collector and six Deputy Collectors and Joint Collectors. The administration is divided into five sub divisions. Five Deputy Collectors are in charge of these sub divisions each. The Additional Collector is the appellate authority of Land Revenue cases, besides he looks after the departmental enquiry and vigilance cases also. The remaining one Deputy Collector at Head quarters assists the Collector in the proper functioning of the administration work.
The administrative set-up and working of the Collectorate may be divided into three main groups, namely Land Revenue and Land Records, Law and Order and Development departments. For dealing with Land Revenue and Land Records branch, the Deputy Collector in charge of each Sub Division is designated as Sub Divisional Officers. All the Sub Divisional Officers are stationed at their respective sub divisional Head Quarters except the Sub Divisional Officer of Ater who has his headquarters at Bhind. A Tehsildar each stationed at their respective tehsil headquarters heads the Seven Tehsils of Bhind District. The Tehsildars are assisted by Additional Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars. At the village level, the work of the land revenue is and land records are carried on by Patwaris. Their work is supervised by Revenue Inspectors (RI). The strength of Revenue Inspector is 17 and Patwari is 406. There are 18 Revenue Inspector Circle and 406 Patwari Circle in Bhind District embracing 950 villages. At the district level a Superintendent of Land Records, assisted by two Assistants, supervises the work of Revenue Inspector and Patwaris.
In the maintenance of Law and Order in Bhind District, the Collector functions as District Magistrate (DM), assisted by the District Magistracy and the Police. The Superintendent of Police heads the Police force of the district.
Administration of Bhind District has six development blocks namely Ater, Bhind, Mehgaon, Gohad, Roan and Lahar. A Block Development Officer (BDO) usually assisted by a sub engineer, a progress Assistant and usual Ministry staff head each block. The Block Development Officer also works as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Janapada Panchayat in his charge. The blocks are also provided with a team of Extension Officers drawn from various departments including Agriculture, Cooperation and Panchayat. Besides, a Block Extension Educator is also provided for each block from Family Welfare Department. A team of 12 Gram Sewaks is also provided for each development block.
