After noticeable improvement, goat"s milk, curd and home made cottage cheese may be added to the diet. Juice fasts may be repeated after 4 weeks on diet.
Water Therapy for Psoriasis
Too frequent baths should be avoided. Soap should not be used. Regular sea water baths and application of sea water outwardly over the affected parts once a day are advantageous. The hot Epsom salts bath has proved valuable in psoriasis. Three full baths should be taken weekly until the trouble begins to subside. The number of baths thereafter may be reduced to two weekly and finally to one. The affected areas should also be bathed twice in hot water containing Epsom salt. After the bath a little olive oil may be applied. The skin should be kept completely clean by daily dry friction or sponge.
In many cases, psoriasis responds well to sunlight. The affected parts should be frequently exposed to the sun. The daily use of a sunlamp or ultra-violet light is also favourable.
Home Remedies for Psoriasis
Though there is no permanent treatment for psoriasis discovered yet, there are many remedies to get rid of the scaly patchy skin. If these remedies are used regularly, the scaly patches may not appear for a very long time. These home remedies for psoriasis will bring and instant relief.
•Cabbage leaves have been effectively used in the form of compresses in the treatment of psoriasis. Compressing the affected parts with leaves of cabbage is also said to be naturally beneficial.
•The use of mud packs in the treatment of psoriasis is extremely beneficial. The packs are made by mixing the clay with a little water and applying to the affected areas. After the clay has dried, it is removed and fresh pack applied. Mud packs are eliminative in their action. They absorb and remove the toxins from the deceased areas.
•Applying Aloe Vera gel to the affected area will reduce the rashes and scaling of skin. Aloe Vera gel needs to be applied 3 times everyday to reduce the lesions.
•Banana peel is the vital ingredient to cure skin ailments. One can use a banana peel and rub the inner area of the peel to the lesions. It will soothe the skin and remove the rashes.
•Applying Castor oil to small, thick and well-circumscribed lesions will help to improve the skin. Mix cold-pressed castor oil with 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Apply this mixture on the lesions before going to bed.
•Massaging the affected areas with olive oil will be very relieving.
•Applying tepidly warm coconut oil on the affected areas for 30 minutes before shower will prevent dryness and reduces the chances of aggravation.
•The fatty acids present in Omega 3 have proved to cure the problem of scaly and patchy skin. Creams based with fish oil can be applied to the affected area to reduce the problem. Fish oil supplements in capsules can also be consumed regularly.
