Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the GATE Committee that includes Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the seven IITs. The main objective of GATE is to identify the meritorious, dedicated and motivated candidates for access to postgraduate programmes in Technology, Engineering, Science, Architecture and Pharmacy. It is conducted in eight zones throughout the country.
