Jaidip Mukherjee Tennis Academy is a tennis academy based in Kolkata dedicated in fostering tennis to the young generation. Being considered as one of the all time great Indian Tennis players, Jaideep Mukherjee has involved himself into Tennis administration and coaching, after retiring from professional tennis. Jaideep Mukherjee's came into limelight in the year 1966 during a Davis Cup. There he made a tie against Germany at Kolkata. The Indian team was not in a good position in the tie and Jaideep Mukherjee clinched the tie for India by beating Ingo Budding in the first singles and later William Bungert, who was one of the most proficient players in Germany in the reverse singles.
Jaideep Mukherjee established the Jaidip Mukherjee Tennis Academy (JMTA) in Kolkata with a view to provide proper training facilities to the promising Indian Tennis players. Fulfilling his dreams of making India one of the top nations in Tennis was also another reason behind Jaidip Mukherjee's founding the academy. This was the first academy of its kind in Kolkata with its own facilities and it is actually a joint collaboration between Jaidip Mukerjee and the Bidhannagar Municipality.
Jaidip Mukherjee mainly concentrated on finding out and grooming Tennis talents in the northern part of India. Jaidip Mukherjee is also running another Tennis academy named, the Himalayan Tennis Academy. Jaidip Mukherjee Tennis Academy (JMTA) has already established itself as one of the premier Tennis academies in India and has been going strongly on achieving its objectives. The main objective of the JMTA is to spread the game among the people of northern India. The academy is aimed at developing world class players, organizing national and international level tennis tournaments and also organizing tennis clinics by leading tennis players and coaches from around the world. Apart from that, the academy has been working on providing the young talents with world class fitness facilities and financial support, if needed, as well.
Jaidip Mukherjee Tennis Academy (JMTA) offers numerous world class facilities to the trainees for preparing them to face the toughest challenges in Tennis court. The academy's infrastructure include three clay Tennis courts, two mini Tennis courts, a practice wall, modern Gymnasium, Club House with changing room facilities, library facilities for tennis players, living Quarters for coaches and staff, lawns with gardens for physical exercise, a running track, residential facilities for outstation players and also stringing facility.
