The Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College is a renowned medical institution in the state of Karnataka and it is situated in the district of Gulbarga. The college was established by the Hyderabad Karnataka Education (HKE) Society in the year 1963 with a view to uplift the then educationally backward region of Karnataka State. The preclinical section of the college started functioning from 1964 and the clinical section started in 1966. The State Government of Karnataka built a 700-bedded hospital, adjacent to the college, for offering clinical facilities to the students.
The Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC), Gulbarga got recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI) in 1972. It was the second Private Medical College in the Country next to Manipal to get the recognition of MCI. The college started offering postgraduate courses from the year 1979 and it is offering postgraduate training in 18 different subjects. The graduates of the College are successfully serving in different parts of the country and abroad. The college offers a large number of courses in various fields of medical science at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The main undergraduate course that the Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC), Gulbarga offers is the MBBS degree course. The institute admits students in the MBBS course under Management quota, NRI quota and Institutional Preference Category. The institute admits several students in different courses every year and there is reservation for the SC/ST or NRI candidates. The institute offers the postgraduate course of MDS in the specialties like Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, and Conservative Dentistry the under Management (NRI) Quota. Some other postgraduate courses are offered in the Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC), Gulbarga, as well.
