They should acquire such attitudes that are required for carrying out all the activities appropriate to general dental practice involving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of anomalies and diseases of the teeth, mouth, jaws and associated tissues.

They should also be able to participate in the rural health care delivery programmes existing in the country. The institute is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and has got recognition from the Dental Council of India (DCI) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Services, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The courses offered in the institute include BDS, MDS, Dental Technician and Dental Hygienist.
