 106.4 FM Radio Gold is a radio channel of All India Radio and is heard in the metropolitan cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. 106.4 FM Radio Gold can also be heard on DTH platform. 106.4 FM Radio Gold is recently broadcasted in Trichy as Hello 106.4FM, since 14th January 2008.
The 106.4 FM Radio Gold also started its transmission in other centres of Tamil Nadu like Madurai, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and more recently Puducherry. Trichy is considered a strategically important market as the city is growing phenomenally and is likely to be the next retail capital. The radio station is looking at Trichy as a very important hub as it is one of the largest radio markets in Tamil Nadu. In fact, gold coins were distributed among the listeners of 106.4 FM Radio Gold on its inaugural day at Trichy centre.
All India Radio was criticised for shifting much sought after FM Gold channel to a new sfrequency. However, All India Radio justifies it as a matter under consideration according the guidelines given by Ministry of communication.
