Kol is chiefly the low caste tribe or the adivasi inhabiting in the Eastern parts of India. The Munda, ho and the Oraon tribes are said to be the kol people.
Kol being a tribal people is employed in cutting down jungle from year to year, and in conveying the wood sale. The Kols are also water-carriers and fishermen.
The Mundas are an original tribe of India. They consider themselves to be Hindus while some of them follow Christianity. The village community in its ancient form still exists among the Mundas.
The Hos, another class of Kol people are known as the Laraka or fighters. They are animists like the Mundas. The languages they speak is known as Munda, Mundari, Kol, or Kolarian.
