Kekayas also known as the Kaikeyas are the ancient people living in north-western Punjab. They were the descendants of the Kshatriyas of the Kekaya Janapada. The Rig Veda affirms that Kekayas dwelt on the banks of river Parusni
In the Vedic texts the name of the Kekayas are also mentioned. Kekayas were the Gandharas, Yavanas, Shakas, Paradas, Bahlikas, Kambojas, Daradas, Barbaras, Chinas, Tusharas and. The Kekayas are believed to have occupied the land of Jhelum, Shahpur and Gujarat.
