 Karli, also known as Karla, is an Indian town situated on the highway between Pune and Mumbai in southern Maharashtra. Karli is a tiny town that is prominent for the Karla Caves. It is celebrated for the numerous inscriptions in its caves written in Pali language. Other than these there is a Buddhist temple complex or chaityas cut out of stone. The chaitya is about 40m long and 15m in height and is the largest in India.
