 Founded in 1974, E.M. Gopalakrishna Kone Yadava Women's College provides educational opportunities to women of the lower strata of society. Located in Thiruppalai, Madurai-625 014, the college has flourished as one of the premier colleges that provides value education and career-centric learning to all its students.
Regular courses are offered to the students of undergraduate level. These are--
B.A. Branch I (B) History, B.A Branch XII (B) English, B.Sc Branch VI (A) Zoology, B.Sc in Branch I (b) Mathematics, B.Com. Other Undergraduate courses are self financed and these include- B.A. in Branch XII (B) Tamil, Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.), B.Sc. Branch I - Mathematics, Branch BSMA-Computer Science, Branch BSIT - Information Technology, Branch III (a) Physics, B.Com, Self Finance - Post Graduate Courses, M.Sc in Mathematics, M.Sc in Computer Science, M.Com in Commerce. Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications is also offered.
Few self financed Diploma Courses are-- Diploma in Gandhian Thought (D.G.T), Diploma in Computer Applications (D.C.A.), Certificate in Gandhian Thought (C.G.T). 1- year Spoken English is a Self-financed Certificate Course. Two other self-financed Certificates courses on Wings 2000 and Tally also are offered to the students. In postgraduate level self financed courses that are offered include-- M.Sc in Mathematics, M.Sc in Computer Science, M.Com. Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Application (P.G.D.C.A.) was started in 2001.
E.M. Gopalakrishna Kone Yadava Women's College campus consists of laboratories of various departments like Chemistry, Computer, Electronics, Physics, Zoology. It also has a well-equipped library. Students also are actively involved in sports. The Badminton team, Volley Ball team, Basket Ball team, Kabadi Team, Kho Kho team have shown their shining achievements. In order to promote social consciousness students participate in N.S.S. activities wholeheartedly.
