![]() Career of Debashish Mohanty Debashish Mohanty had his first Testdebut in August, 1997, against Sri Lanka but it was during the Sahara Cup against Pakistan in the same year that brought him into the limelight. He had a strong new ball partnership with Ventakatesh Prasad and in the 1999 Cricket World Cup. Debashish Mohanty was the second highest Indian wicket taker after Javagal Srinath, who used to be one of the finest Indian fast bowlers. Mohanty played 17 ODIs and picked up 29 wickets at an average in the early 20s and climbed into the top 20 of the ICC ODI World Rankings. After the World Cup though, Debashish Mohanty was in and out of the side and played his final ODI in 2001.
