Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, Chennai, Tamil NaduAlpha Arts and Science College is a constituent college that runs under the sponsorship of the Alpha Educational Society, registered as a non-profitable educational society under the Society Registration Act of 1860. It is a private, self-financed college that is approved by the Tamil Nadu Government. It is integrated to the Alpha Group of Institutions. Affiliated of the Madras University, Alpha Arts and Science College began functioning in 1996-97. Very recently, in 2001-02 it had undergone upgradation as a postgraduate institute.

Alpha Arts and Science College is renowned for its notable faculty members as well as good infrastructure. The institution is earmarked for integrating new avenues in educational fields through its novel learning techniques and methods. Alpha Arts and Science College has a treasure of devoted and experienced teachers who inspire, persuade, advise and stimulate the students so that they can work hard to the best of their abilities.

The well-designed laboratories of Alpha Arts and Science College are equipped with modern sophisticated equipments and instruments, thereby enabling the students to put into research work and thus implement knowledge of their classroom studies in practice. While boys` hostel is built inside the college campus with all updated facilities, the girls` hostel is in a wonderful and tranquil campus lying close by. Good transportation also facilitates easy commuting. Besides, the college also provides the facility of internet browsing, so that they can stay attuned with worldly affairs.

Apart from that, a handful of clubs in Arts, Science, sports and culture have been formed in Alpha Arts and Science College, in order to inculcate the habit of participating in co-curricular activities amongst the students. Extracurricular activities too are part and parcel of college life. To arouse a sense of responsibility towards society and its people, the college has set up a N.S.S. wing with a trained Programme Officer. N.S.S. takes charge of events like- adult education programmes and health camps in villages near by. The unit of Youth Red Cross Society of the college is affiliated to the Indian Red Cross Society and membership is open to all students. Blood donation camps conducted by Red Cross Society are held regularly.

The placement cell of Alpha Arts and Science College is working hard to invite all the famous multinational companies and recruit students during campus interviewing. An all-inclusive Career Guidance Programme that is held in the college helps in better planning of the students.
