Zakir Hussain College is a premier college affiliated to the Aligarh Muslim University, located at Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, New Delhi. It instructs students in nineteen subjects both at the Honours and Pass levels. Option also is open for the students to get enrolled in postgraduate courses like M.A in Arabic, Economics, English, Mathematics, Political Science, Philosophy, Persian, Hindi, Psychology, Sanskrit, Urdu, History, M.Com and M.Sc in Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Zoology as well. Undergraduate courses include B.A. (Hons.) in Arabic, Economics, English, Bengali, History, Hindi, Maths, Persian, Urdu, Philosophy, Psychology, Sanskrit, and Political Science. B.A pass course is also offered. In Commerce stream, students can take admission in both B.Com Hons. and B.Com pass courses. B.Sc. (Hons.) in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electronics and B.Sc. (General) suit the science aspirants.
Special attention is bestowed upon organising extra curricular activities that help in the development of the personality of the students of Zakir Hussain College as a whole. Various academic societies and associations like girls association, Arts and culture society, deating society, society for horticulture and ecological concerns are formed who are responsible for organising various social and cultural activities within the college premises. Wings of National Cadet Corps (NCC) for boys and girls have also been opened. Sports organisations, clubs and sports related training programmes exist, to motivate the students inclined to sports and games.
Zakir Hussain College has a well-stocked library that consists of more than 85,000 volumes. It works on the open shelf system. The college Book Bank is useful for the poor and meritorious students since they can get help in the forms of receiving textbooks for the entire academic session. Hostel facilities are also provided to the Zakir Hussain College students.
It offers residential accommodation to forty students at undergraduate level under the custody of the warden. A committee of resident students manages the mess.
