Deriving its name from the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, Khalsa College is a premier college under Delhi University. It is a 'co-educational institution' situated in University of Delhi (North Campus), New Delhi-110007, and was founded in 1951 by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee with a noble objective of instilling the morals of selflessness and service amongst the young generation. Drawing inspiration from the life of the Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College had a humble beginning. It began functioning in a school building of four rooms in Dev Nagar with only forty-nine students and a faculty of six teachers. Only in 1973 did Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College transfer to its present premises in the University Campus in 1973.
Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College houses several departments, like Botany , Physical Education, Commerce, Mathematics , Physics and Electronics,
Economics, Chemistry, Political Science, Punjabi, Zoology, History, Hindi, English.
The College has earned popularity for its excellence in sports and gaming activities.
From time to time the students of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College has received invitation to participate in all the international competitions. To facilitate sports, the College authorities have built a spacious playground where students can play various games like Hockey, Cricket, Football, Kho-Kho etc. Ample facilities are given for promoting indoor games like Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess and mini Gymnasium. A superb Sports Complex called Sant Harchand Singh Longowal Sports Complex has been built, consisting of sixteen up-to-date gymnasium, with facilities of treadmill and weightlifting. A squash racket room, 3 table tennis rooms, and changing rooms for players also are incorporated within this complex. There is also a seminar room that is delightfully decorated, providing excellent infrastructure for workshops, seminars and associated activities.
