Federation Cup is the second most prestigious club football tournament in India after the National Football League (NFL). The tournament was initiated by the All India Football Federation in 1977 and includes all the major NFL teams.
It became India's prominent tournament in the eighties and even in the early nineties. Over the years there had been many changes in the form of Federation Cup tournament. It is played in the knockout basis.
The twenty-seventh edition of the Federation Cup held in Goa in 2005 was live telecasted by Zee Sports.
