Puri beach is the site of the annual Puri Beach Festival, which is co-sponsored by the Indian Ministry of Tourism, the city of Odisha, the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts, and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata. Puri beach hosts sand art displays, including work by international award-winning local sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik. There are 24 festival hosts in Puri beach area. It is including 13 major ones, held every year in the temple complex contributing to the economy. The Ratha Yatra and its related festivals are the most important which are attended by millions of people every year. Sand art and appliqué art are some of the important crafts of the city.

The five sacred water bodies near Puri Beach area are the Indradyumana Tank, the Rohini Kunda, the Markandeya Tank, the Swetaganga Tank, and the Bay of Bengal also called the Mahodadhi, in Sanskrit 'Mahodadhi' means a "great ocean"; all are considered sacred bathing spots in the Swargadwar area of Puri beach.
