Gurmatkal is a town and a nagar panchayat situated in Gulbarga District in the southern state of India, Karnataka. The town is situated about 82 km southeast of Gulbarga. Gurmatkal is surrounded by Gajarkot (Koterki) to the west, Ganga Ravapalli in Andhra Pradesh to the north, Damargidda in Andhra Pradesh to the east and Chintalpalli to the south. The nearest access points are the airport at Hyderabad and the Yadgir Railway Station is the nearest railway station. Geographically, the town is located between 16.87° North latitude and 77.4° East longitude at an average elevation of 608 metres (1994 feet) above mean sea level.
The Indian census report published in 2001 states that the town had a population of 16,927. Males and females constitute an equal proportion of the population.
