Surinder Singh Sodhi, the field hockey player, hails from India who participated at the 1980 Olympics held at Moscow. At the tournament India won the gold medal. He was selected for the highest sports award in India, the Arjuna Award. Surinder Singh Sodhi captained the Indian team at the 1982 Champion's Trophy where India finished 3rd, and posted its best ever performance at the competition.
