Prem Maya Sonir was an important member of the Indian Women's Hockey Team She participated in several of its most triumphant outings. She was born on July 14th 1961. She was a member of the team when it won the 1982 Asian Games held in New Delhi and captained the team later. Currently she is serving as a coach of the Indian railways women's hockey team. Under her guidance the team has won several hockey championships quite a number of times.
The Government of India honoured her with the prestigious Arjuna Award in the year 1985. This eminent player is now married to the basketball player Bachchan Prasad and she has two sons Ankit Bachchan and Arpit Bachchan. She is at present the Assistant Sports Officer of the North Eastern Railways.
