Mohammed Riaz, a former captain of the Indian National field hockey team, represented India at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. His father, Mohammed Nabi, was an international umpire. In the year 1998, he was conferred the Arjuna Award for his spectacular accomplishments.
Presently, Mohammed Riaz serves as the Chairman Selection committee for Tamil Nadu Hockey Association. He was also the Coach for Indian Hockey team.

He is married to Mehnaz. They have two kids - Shameena Riaz and Mohammed Rayhan.
